Medical imaging has shown that patients with Alzheimer’s and other brain diseases have higher levels of inflammation in the brain.

Perlmutter says that “the most important approach to dealing with Alzheimer’s is to do everything you can do reduce inflammation, and that means a low-carb diet.”

• 1 pound minced pork
• 3 eggs, beaten
• 10 pieces jalapeno pepper
• 1 cup almond flour
• 20 slices of cheddar cheese (100 grams)
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp ground pepper
• Coconut oil for frying

What Are Probiotics, Really?

Yogurt The term “probiotic” is misused so often that a group of experts has taken a fresh look at what probiotics really are, and examined what scientists have learned about them in recent years.

Probiotics are generally thought of as the “good” bacteria in the body. Experts define probiotics as live microorganisms which confer health benefits when present in adequate amounts. Much of the current research on probiotics is focused on examining which bacterial species may have health benefits, and what those benefits may be.

But there’s still enough confusion surrounding the concept of probiotics and what they can offer that some governments do not even allow the term to appear on product labels, to protect consumers from unfounded health claims.

Soda May Be Hazardous to Your Sperm

California’s Soda Warning Label Bill, SB 1000 (Monning), will make U.S. history if it passes. The warning label, which was designed by a panel of nationally-recognized public health experts, actually understates the risks associated with drinking sugary beverages. If SB 1000 passes, the label will read:

STATE OF CALIFORNIA SAFETY WARNING: Drinking beverages with added sugar(s) contributes to obesity, diabetes, and tooth decay.

I am a firm supporter of SB 1000 and thrilled that some of California’s newspapersare understanding how vitally important this bill is. In addition to the issues of obesity, diabetes and tooth decay, which SB 1000 warns us about, there is strong scientific evidence linking sugary beverage consumption to heart attacks, high blood pressure, strokes, cancer and fatty liver disease. Now, a new health concern has been linked to sugary drinks.
