Talking to Doctor about Weight/BMI

1297680967Xa27j9In my book unfortunately doctors are becoming increasingly weary about discussing a patient’s need to lose weight with the patient themselves.

In my recall not so long ago there was a case that came to the newspapers and television news about a woman who was trying to sue her doctor because he said she was fat and needed to lose weight.

So from that side I understand his caution. From the other side sadly it would appear that many medical practitioners can offer no further advice to somebody who is already successfully losing weight possibly because they know that the advice they’re about to give them just doesn’t work.

So if you’re already losing weight why spoil it? The fact that he went on to talk about cholesterol medication even before you had a blood test just makes me wonder if he either A -Hasn’t got a clue what he’s on about or B- He’s following another agenda.

If were in your position I’ll just keep on doing what you have been doing and let the weight come down with diet and exercise. It seems to work for you so far.

All the best,

Mark

Question on creamy soups

cream-hill-28131735

Living in Europe and particularly in Northern France where cream is a component of so many dishes, I might be out to offer a little bit of insight and experience.

When adding cream to any dish, take the dish off the heat and allow it to cool for a minute or so before you add the cream. Add the cream all in one so that it further cools the dish and then gently bring the pan back to heat stirring continuously. At the first sign of curdling take it off the heat continuing to stir, turn the heat down and try again.

If you’re going to freeze the dish then don’t add the cream. Cook it right away through just to the point where you add the cream and then set it aside for freezing. When you want to use it thaw it out thoroughly, bring it up to heat and then add the cream in the same manner that you would as if the dish were fresh. It really is that simple.

Hope that helps,

Mark

Slimming teas

Many teas can be beneficial for health as can many infusions. However I would steer clear of ones that claim to be able to block fat absorption.

Fat that we digest brings with it numerous benefits none of which we would want to do without.

Now if you could find a tea that helps you burn fat that’s something that would be worth looking at more closely.

Cheers,

Mark

Goal Weight

1326389849EDW209

In truth how much we weigh is really only an indicator of excesses. It’s no indicator of how we as an individual should be that’s because our actual weight can be determined by huge range of things. Height is an obvious one then there’s frame size, bone density and inherited body composition. That in turn will be influenced by our medical history, our history of exercise practice and on a very basic level our ethnic origin.

So you can see that with those nine or ten factors an ideal weight for each of us compared with our height means very little except as I said to show if we are over the top.

However in order to address the problems that you are talking about, probably the most efficient way of dealing with things like belly fat and so forth is exercise particularly exercise done whilst in ketosis as part of it’s self preservation “reprogramming”, the body will not allow muscles that are used regularly to waste but it will obviously require nutrients in order to maintain effective muscle strength and even growth.

During ketosis it will most effectively obtain that from body fat or rather I should say excess body fat. So if you want to re sculpture your body stay in ketosis, follow a sensible exercise regime that covers most of your muscle groups and allow your body to use the excess fat in order to supply your body’s needs. Within a very short time you’ll notice that belly fat disappearing and the body you can be proud of taking its place.

Hope that helps,

Mark

How great to have just discovered you guys!

Many of our health concerns will certainly be addressed by following a low carbohydrate diet and we need not worry about it being too good to be true as fairly quickly we will start to see results for ourself that will prove just how effective this way of eating really is in both restoring and promoting good health.

For years the general population has been encouraged to eat a diet that is not optimal for nourishing the human body. This has led to many many different health problems and complications due to what is in effect poor nutrition.

A low carb diet is far more suitable for humans to consume as it’s a lot more closely aligned to what our digestive system is designed to process. This in turn allows our body to use its finite capacity to deal with the problems that beset us on a daily basis. Because of that it seems that the low carb diet is working miracles whereas in reality it’s just allowing our body to work in it’s most natural and efficient way.

The best advice I can give you is to keep steady with this diet and allow your body time to adjust and repair as both the issues you’re concerned about and many more that you may not even have thought about are dealt with and you come to experience a new level of health that you may have not known previously.

Hope that helps,

Mark

Low Carb and Anxiety

433px-Digestive_system_diagram_edit.svgMany people don’t realize how important their stomach and their digestive system is in relation to other bodily systems. How our stomach “feels” can and does have a huge impact on our emotional being far more than many people have thought although thankfully science is catching up with many of the ancient practices and wisdom that did understand this, ancient Chinese medicine being at the forefront of that understanding.

I don’t know about you but I was a comfort-eater. Secretly many men are which if that was the case for you, then you have in essence taken away your comfy blanket so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to find that you are feeling more anxious about not having the food that you used to rely on to give you comfort and as a therapist you would know exactly that the body will follow precisely our inner thoughts, hopes and aspirations far more exactly than our rational conscious decisions.

One of the best ways around this is to make sure that you have a big enough reason “why” you want a new body as it were and give yourself a profound set of goals.

Hope that helps,

Mark
